Short Video in Class
Environment
Schools are expected to introduce ICT into the
classroom to help students develop their creativity and imagination, to keep
pace with new challenges they face trying to cope with comprehensive school
curriculum. Teaching foreign languages at school used to be aimed generally at
teaching students how to read and write. Things have changed lately in favor of
communicative skills, which imply more speaking and writing competences. Along
with recommended digital teaching resources we can use in class, there are new
ways how to introduce more creativity and fun to school students, especially
those who are willing to get more from learning foreign languages.
Audio and video recording of own talks and
short conversations to a particular topic make them put more effort and sense
when they prepare and learn assigned topics. A PowerPoint slide show with a student voiceover is more appealing to
the audience than just a plain text on the picture. Besides, students enhance
their pronunciation and are less reluctant to speak publicly.
These skills prove to be useful when they
choose to take school leaving exams in the RNE format.
Even more effective is when young teenagers
learn how to prepare, shoot and edit news reports on some particular event from
their school life or on events significant in the place they live and share
these with their ePals worldwide.
